TRAINING PROGRAMME ON YOUTH ETHNIC RELIGIOUS HARMONY THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA -19TH TO 24TH OF JANUARY -2020

33 youth participated to this programme from Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya & Matale Districts. It was organized by The National center Caritas SEDEC and Rev.Fr. Joseph Mirenda Was The first day special guest and he addressed the young people empathizing on the importance of the programme. The   financing was done by the National Centre (CARITAS-Sri-Lanka- SEDEC) to this programme.

On the 20th &21st they were educated about photography, short film and voice recording by the resource persons –   Mr Nicky Thomson and Mr.Haris. Also they visited a Hindu Temple, Church, and Temple of the tooth and to an Elders home to get experience and also for a practical session on recording (video graphing)

On the 22nd they got knowledge about the responsibility of a media person, journalist, and the true nature of the news, history of the media and about the news situations of the past. This session was done by Mr. Hazad.

On the 23rd & 24th the session was conducted by Mr.Laksitha Senevirathne, and he gave a  very good knowledge in an impressing way  to the youth   about  the  Google apps such as Blog, Vlog & kine Master.

On the final day, the Vicar General of Kandy Diocese, very Rev.Fr.Milroy Fonseka participated at the closing ceremony as a special guest. He advised the youth to use the social media in a correct way to build up a good society. Also he distributed the certificates to the participants. Further, each participant  received a pen drive from the National Centre and also they gave a common Mobile phone to CARITAS –Kandy-SETIK, to convey the messages to National Centre, which will be share in  DC youth group.
